Remembrances

Dr. Mosca, an Oklahoma City physician, has been a wonderful advocate for the healing power of therapy animals.  Join us as we follow his story in the world of Therapeutic Animal Interaction.

Physician recognizes therapy animals are good medicine

Dr. Mosca has been making a big impact in Oklahoma with his therapy animals.

First was "Boz" -- a beautiful boxer from Tulsa Boxer Rescue.  Sadly, Boz passed away in July, 2009.

Still grieving over the loss of his much-loved Boz, Dr. Mosca relented and welcomed a new Boxer named "Spike" into his home. Spike comes from Red Dirt Boxer Rescue.  They quickly became fast friends.

Dr. Mosca immediately started Spike's training and together they passed their therapy team certification on November 7th.  Spike goes to Dr Mosca's office each day and the team visits patients three days a week at Jim Thorpe
Rehabilitation.

Spike's Training!

Here are a few photos of Spike during his early training.  Just look at that concentration.  Spike is really focused and working hard to walk calmly with a wheelchair.

In memory of Boz

Because Dr. Mosca and Boz was such a big influence in Oklahoma, we have provided links to some of the news stories for anyone who wants to learn more about this team.

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Boz.  A regular visitor at Integris hospitals and Dr Mosca’s office, he touched the lives of many patients and will be greatly missed. - July 15, 2009
